How do I choose the right panel if I work in environments with high-pressure washing?

In the Food & Beverage sector, hygiene is a top priority.

In order to comply with strict industry regulations, production and packaging lines must be designed to withstand frequent high-pressure washing cycles with aggressive detergents, without compromising electrical safety.

In this context, choosing the right electrical enclosure is crucial: an unsuitable enclosure risks losing its seal, corroding or promoting the accumulation of contaminants.

The main risks in intensive washing

During washing with high-pressure water jets, electrical enclosures are exposed to:

  • Penetration of liquids and moisture inside the enclosure;
  • Corrosion due to detergents and chemicals;
  • Damage to seals and closure systems;
  • Increased risk of bacterial proliferation in the presence of edges and uneven surfaces.

For this reason, the design must ensure mechanical resistance, water tightness and ease of cleaning.

What to check when purchasing
1. Certifications

Check that the enclosure has an IP66 or higher protection rating, in compliance with health and hygiene standards. Some IRINOX models in the Hygienic Line are specifically designed to meet the requirements of EHEDG and HACCP.

2. Seals

Seals must be continuous, resistant to aggressive detergents and easy to replace. IRINOX offers high-resistance blue silicone seals, which reduce the risk of contamination and are easily identifiable in case of wear.

3.  Closing systems

In environments subject to intensive washing, closures must maintain their seal over time. IRINOX hygienic solutions include compression closures designed to reduce accumulation points and ensure robustness.

4. Surface finish

The surface must be smooth, free of sharp edges and with reduced roughness to prevent the accumulation of residues. AISI 304L and 316L stainless steel, used by IRINOX, ensures resistance and maximum hygiene even in the presence of aggressive detergents.

IRINOX solutions for high-pressure environments

For Food & Beverage applications, the Hygienic Line has been developed with:

  • Sloping tops to facilitate the drainage of liquids,
  • Certified seals,
  • Finishes without surface porosity.
These features make the enclosures not only resistant to washing, but also easier to maintain in compliance with international hygiene standards.

Not just Food & Beverage

The Food & Beverage sector is certainly the most interested, given the regulations in force, but also, for example, in the Chemical sector, detergents and aggressive substances require the need to reduce the risk of contamination and wear of electrical enclosures.

Choosing the right electrical enclosure in environments with high-pressure washing or aggressive detergents means investing in safety, hygiene and durability.
